International organizations

Climate, human rights, immigration, public health, international law, community advocacy, etc. It’s a privilege to be living near Geneva, where so many organizations are working so hard to improve life on our planet.

Business communication

Clear, polished English translations of whatever you need to share with colleagues, investors, and clients. If your readers come from different language backgrounds, I’ll adapt my writing to make your message easy to understand, while preserving its nuance and tone.

The arts and education

Art and music are two of my passions. Theatre too. And I have nine years of experience as a bilingual teacher, in Spanish-English and French-English classrooms. I’m also very comfortable with neurodivergence and individual educational needs.

Editing & proofreading

Whether you have a well-written draft that could use another set of eyes before publication, or a rough piece of writing that needs a serious overhaul, you can count on me for meticulous editing and proofreading.

Hi, I’m Rachel.

Greetings from the shores of Lake Geneva in French-speaking Switzerland. I translate French, Spanish, and Portuguese into native US English, and would love to help you with your translation project if it falls within one of my areas of specialization (see more about those above).

In business as a professional translator since 2018, I have a master’s degree in translation from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and am certified by the American Translators Association for French-to-English translation. I’m an active member of the American Translators Association and the American Literary Translators Association.

Moving between languages has been part of my life for decades…

• 5 years as a bilingual English-Spanish teacher in Los Angeles

• 2 years teaching English at a French school in South Carolina

• French-US household since 2006

• 5 years raising two young children in Rio de Janeiro

• Living in multilingual Switzerland since 2020

Back to you and your project. Sometimes you can obviously run a document through an AI translation tool and call it good enough. That’s okay when you just need the gist of a text and don’t care if it’s completely accurate or sounds like it was written by a computer.

But if you want more than good enough this time, please consider hiring a professional translator. I’m as excited as ever about bringing a human touch to the art of translation. Maybe even more so now that AI is seeping into more of what we’re reading. Let’s hold onto our humanity!

Can’t wait to hear what you’re working on.
